I was born and raised in Calhoun, Georgia. My father worked in the textile industry until the mid 1980s when he entered the ministry full time as a pastor. My mother spent more than 40 years as an LPN at the hospital, doctor's office, health department, and with the NWGA Health District until she retired about a year ago. I have an older brother and sister who still reside in Calhoun with their children. I graduated in 1993 from Gordon Central High School and attended Lee College (now Lee University), graduating in 1997 with music education degree. I participated in band starting in 7th grade all the way through college, including marching band, concert band, symphonic band, percussion ensemble, jazz ensemble, and the rhythm section of the treble choir. Along the way, I've managed to pick up advanced degrees in early childhood education, ESOL, and instructional technology.

I started teaching in Polk County the following fall and met the woman of my dreams. Donna and I have been married for 20 years and reside in Ellijay. I have also taught in Gordon County and in Gilmer County. This is my third year at West Fannin and I am looking forward to many years of helping students discover, grow, and nurture their creativity through music, art, drama, and technology.

In my spare time, I enjoy traveling with Donna, good food, good coffee, good golf courses, good college football games (GO DAWGS!), banging away on my drum kits, taking our nieces and nephews on outings, and royally spoiling our two cats, Choc and Carefee. I act as a consultant with two music organizations in Nashville from time to time.
